My friend told me not to fly Delta but my parents had already booked the flight. The first flight I was waiting inline to check my bag (not check in) I did that online, and it took over a half an hour, there was only one attendant. Then once I get to the counter she tells me she can't check my bag because its too late. She says you have to check your bag a half hour prior. My flight was at 6:00, the time was 5:31!, I told her I had been waiting in line for a while and I was on time. She proceeds to call her "supervisor", and sarcastically says, I have two teenagers here and a bunch of army men behind me all wanting to check bags, uuuhh, do you want me to check them". Blah Blah phone chatter, snotty look. " Today is your lucky day" she says in the bitchiest fucking tone I wanted to slap her, but was afraid if I said anything snotty she would change her mind about checking my bag so I kept my mouth shut. Anyways, then I get to the security lane which also only has one line and I barely get to my flight with 4 min to spare, while encountering about 4 other rude airline employees. Then I get to my destination and my luggage of course doesn't, and the service man delivers it at 11:30pm at night and won't come to the door.

Return flight: we get to the airport and my flight is in an hour and the attendant tells me the flight is cancelled, thanks for letting me know sooner DELTA. Then I have to take another flight the next morning and they lost my luggage again, I am sitting here waiting to hear from them and I've called about a hundred times wondering what the hell has happened to my shit. Well we have no idea where your package is and you should try calling back later. FUCK YOU DELTA

I travel for a living and don't have many travel issues but I don't typically fly DELTA either. I've had two horrible experiences with this airline in the last month and feel compelled to share. The week before last I was leaving Chicago at 6AM only to find the flight was delayed by 3 hours...ok it happens. We finally board the plane after 3 hours and proceed to sit on the tarmack for an hour when they suppossedly have mechanics fixing engine issues. It is hot on the plane, little air flow, etc. We then received an announcement stating that the pilots would be abandoning the plane as they had "timed out" for the day; meaning they were about to exceed their daily allowance of work for the day. A half hour later, we are all forced to get off the plane since we have no pilots. We get off and wait for over an hour for another pilot to fly in to take us to our destination. I thought perhaps this was a fluke experience and gave DELTA another chance...BIG mistake. The next expeience was worse:

I left Memphis today with the hopes of connecting to another flight in Salt Lake to get home...didn't happen. Flight from Memphis to Salt Lake was scary to say the least; horrible weather conditions, lots of turbulance, passengers getting sick; one even needed an oxygen tank; crazy! We tried to land in Salt Lake a few times but were unable due to weather so we made an emergency landing in Provo to fuel up. Well we turned around and flew back to Salt Lake and landed just fine. This whole process took a few hours and I missed my connecting flight...surprise...surprise. They put me on standby with a very high probability of getting on another flight. After waiting two hours the flight was delayed because the pilot hadn't arrived yet...ok. The plane is there, the pilot finally arrives and we think we are on our way until an announcement comes over the loudspeaker stating that our flight attendants had "timed out" for the day and there was nobody else to take over their duties. Are you serious? This is Salt Lake airport for crying out loud, you can't find somebody else to help? I don't want to minimize the role of flight attendants but c'mon! So rather than find someone, they chose to cancel the flight and pay for all passenger hotel rooms and dinner. That is a real head scrathcer! So I took my two $6 vouchers (that can only be used at the airport and all restaurants were closing) and hotel voucher for the Quality Inn and left the airport. I proceeded to the Quality Inn airport which is reminded me of the Bates motel. No elevators, doors looked out to parking lot, sliding glass room doors. This was pretty sleasy. After spending half an hour looking for my room I finally found it only to discover the door wouldn't open! Ok I'm done, definitely a sign. I left that horrible place and paid for a cab and a decent hotel. I'm suppossed to leave in the morning; not holding my breath. My new acronym for DELTA is Doesn't Ever Leave The Airport!

DELTA you need to re-evaluate your employee "time out" policies. Shame on you for blatantly deceiving your customers and putting your front line employees in uncomfortable situations. Absolutely unexcusable! You will be my very last choice when making travel arrangements.

We just returned from a family cruise. Unfortunately for us, my sister booked us on Delta Airlines as it was the least expensive, BIG MISTAKE! I fly often and have never experienced such a poorly run airline. It started with the baggage counter, all 3 airports we flew through did not have enough employees to handle all the paying customers resulting in lines that took nearly an hour to get through. The flight attendants were no better. Poor customer service must be Deltas mantra as most Delta employees we encountered acted as if they were working with livestock and not real people. Fortunately for us, all of our flights were on time and our luggage never lost but the lack of respect for paying customers desperately needs to be addressed. We will not fly Delta again as being the biggest certainly does not mean it is the best. My advice, make Delta Airlines your LAST choice and if you do fly them, be prepared to be frustrated and annoyed.

I'm on a DELTA flight RIGHT NOW. The inflight internet is the only thing that is good about this airline. This airline has the WORST customer service I have ever experienced and I will NEVER NEVER NEVER fly with them again!!!
Do NOT fly Delta.

Just had an 'interesting' experience with this airline. Booked to fly from Copenhagen (Denmark) back to the US on KLM but (of course) it was a Delta flight. Couldn't check in until three hours before the flight; by that time there was what looked like several hundred people to be processed by the three or four agents. Stood in line an hour and a half. Finally made it to the gate, herded into an undersized small waiting room....then the fun started.

We should have been tipped off by our on-line check in seat assignment being changed due to an 'equipment change'. Sure was. The usual Airbus or other long haul airliner had been replaced by a 757. This is a fairly nasty plane at the best of times -- cramped, noisy and with inadequate restroom and virtually non-existent galley facilities. Barely tolerable for a three or four hour flight but utterly unacceptable for an 8 or 9 hour transatlantic flight. Since there is no galley facilities to speak of the food had to be repackaged resulting in an hour delay (great for the passengers -- most of them -- who had connections).

I'm not even sure that that plane is certified for this route -- its at the extreme of its range, there's absolutely nothing left over if there's any kind of emergency. Passenger comfort, convenience and even safety take a back seat to the bottom line.

The rest of the journey would be called "typical Delta"......never again.

My wife and kids (2 kids under 6 y/o) had a scheduled flight to Washington last week. When they arrived at the airport, they waited for their scheduled time. They were soon notified that the flight was canceled because there weren't enough passengers. The next flight was 4 hours later. That flight was in turn late by over 30 minutes. They boarded the plane and flew the first leg of the trip to Salt Lake City. They were then told that the connecting flight was delayed by 3 hours. They waited the allotted time and arrived in Washington in the early morning. On their return trip today, the plane they were on was over booked so they were bumped. They had to wait 3 hours for the next flight. They reached Salt Lake City and were told that the flight to home was delayed at least 2 hours. As of writing this, they are still waiting and will not get in until at least 10 pm. My family will not be flying Delta again.

My Flight was cancelled from Newark to Atlanta on July 14, 2010 14 hours before the flight. Delta claimed it was for a weather related issue. The plane originates from Atlanta which the FAA website showed no delays and also no delays for Newark. None of the other airlines reported delays or cancellations, just this one flight. I am starting to see a pattern of weather related cancellations, on this website. I was rescheduled on a 6pm flight, 10 hours later, so I called the airline, after waiting 45 minutes on hold and the rude telemarketer I informed her that I could only make it to the airport for a flight they had seats available 36 hours later as the person I was traveling with didn't want to travel on his birthday. She put me on hold for the balance of an hour and informed me we could only take a flight from that day or the next morning. I told her I needed to cancel his reservation, she said please hold, and she NEVER came back to the phone. I am wondering how long you should hold until you decide they aren't coming back to you. Well I found out I should have kept my mouth shut and lost the money on the other ticket. I eventually hung up and went to the Delta website. I entered my flight confirmation number, and I found out she cancelled BOTH of my ticket, ROUNDTRIP. So I had to rebook another flight on US Airways which was leaving the same time as the Delta flight that was cancelled due to weather. I called up the Delta the next day and told them what they did to me and they said, "I will book you on the flight you want. This was after I informed them I booked with another airline. So I was transferred to the refund department and they refunded my money, but they hold the money for 7-10 days. Lets see what happens.

Just got off a Delta flight from Detroit to Kansas City (July 9th). The flight was delayed by an hour, understandable on a Friday evening. We boarded the plane and the pilot explained that maintenance had been called to look at an issue. 30 minutes later the pilot said that maintenance had fixed the issue but that just as they fixed it that Delta management had canceled the flight due to weather in Kansas City. Everyone pulled up the weather report on their phones or called family to ask what was up with the weather. No one could understand. Anyway, everyone got off the plane and stood in line. I called my wife to schedule me on the next Delta flight which was scheduled to leave at 7:55 pm, just 40 minutes from the time the prior flight was canceled. No weather issues for that flight? Of course everyone tried to squeeze on that flight which delayed that flight due to chaos and baggage transfers, etc.. Lesson learned, Delta does not act honorable when dealing with customers. Of course there was a mechanical problem and the lied saying it was a weather issue to avoid putting people up for the night etc.
