Piss Poor Service

Booked a flight to Rome via Columbus, Ohio to New York to Rome, months in advance. Weather on east coast closed JFK, was rebooked on the spot, now Atlanta to Rome, got on the plane only to be removed because weather was now an issue in Atlanta and would not make the connection. Was sold a guaranteed ticket from Cincinnati to Rome, leaving in 3 hours. Daughter got off work drove thru 2 rush hour traffics, Col’s and Cincy, rushed into Cincy airport checked bags, ran to boarding gate and was told that flight was overbooked 14 seats and that guaranteed seats were not going to get us on a plane, because even though we had a guaranteed ticket(now 2 hours old) we did not have a seat assignment. At this point, I was ready to strangle the boarding *itch. Wife takes over negeotiations and is told that we can fly to Frankfurt, Germany and from there Lufthansa to Rome. We asked for our seat assignments on the Franfurt to Rome flight. “Sorry that is another airline and I am unable to give that information!” We then asked, “How do we know that you are not just flying us to Germany, and will again find an overbooked flight?” Her response,”You don’t, but the plane leaves in 15 minutes, so please make up your mind!” We flew to Frankfurt which was under construction, dealt with those surly SOB’s, and did eventually arrive in Rome, too bad our luggage did not. Instead of an extra 36 hours of sightseeing in Rome prior to a Mediterrenean cruise, we arrived at hotel, slept for 6 hours, got up checked with airport, still no luggage, and then took bus to cruise ship. 10 day cruise, no clothes, 1 bag arrives on day 9, 1 bag arrives after home 2 weeks, 1 bag arrives at home after 2 months, and remaining bag is still on vacation, now 10 months. All of the baggage was tagged with at least 2 secure ID tags and inside of each was an 8×10 sheet of paper with trip schedule, names and phone #’s of ouselves, the cruise line and tour director. Moral of story Delta sucks, Frankfurt sucks, Delta sucks, Rome airport sucks big time! (Rooms full of lost luggage), delta sucks, travel insurance is worthless, they suck, Europe sucks, and Oh Yeah, DELTA SUCKs.
Final blow-After trip is over baggage claim for Delta says they only keep baggage claim numbers for 3 days and are unable to track. Perfect!
Since this trip, I have flown to Vegas, to Hawaii, to Atlanta, and just returned from a flight to California, none with Delta!
ps-I still have the name of that idiot ticket agent in Columbus, I hope I meet him again.
