I will never fly delta again!

I currently live in England with my husband and 5 month old son, courtesy of the US Air Force. I bought a ticket to fly home for the Thanksgiving holiday flying out of London Gatwick. When I booked my ticket over the phone I was quoted $694 for myself and $95 for my son to sit in my lap. I was told that both amounts would be paid from my credit card and I would get both of our tickets in the mail. When my itinerary arrived in the mail 2 weeks later (not ticket as I was told, but itinerary) my son was not even mentioned on it!! So I called wonderful Delta. I was then told I had to pay for my son’s ticket at the airport when I checked in and was again quoted $95. Not a big deal, just annoying because they didn’t do what they said. Now 2 weeks out from my departure I saw this website and read about the issues other people have had. So I called wonderful Delta again. The extremely rude woman refused to let me or my husband speak to a manager, saying there is never a manager there.!
She said if I had taken care of the situation earlier then they could have mailed my son’s ticket, but now there isn’t enough time to get it to me. So now it’s my fault!! She told me to go the airport today (which is 3 hours away!) to pay for his ticket or I would be forced to pay ABOUT 10% plus taxes and fees of the last minute fare for the day I travel when I checked in as the price for my son to sit in my lap. Do you know how much a last minute fare from London to the States is!!! She told me that wasn’t her problem and if I wanted to only pay the $95 for my son I had to pay today. My mother was luckily able to go to an airport in Tennessee and fight with the Delta people there for over 2 hours and they finally agreed to let her pay! Never in my life have I delt with such a shady airline. They do everything they can to force you to have to wait to pay the day you travel so they can get as much money from you as possible. I will never fly delta again!

You have broken the code with repect to Delta. As an ex-Delta employee, I have free travel benefits ( the only benefits !), however, I buy tickets on Southwest for domestic travel and British Airways for International travel. It’s worth the money to not be exposed to the indifference, arrogance, and incompetence, that abounds in ALL areas of this dispicable company. They can merge with everyone on the planet, and it will just be a matter of time till they once again implode and are bankrupt. There are so many better alternatives, where they value your business.

Well said,as an ex-employee,I buy all my tickets on other airlines.Delta sucks and that is it.One thing though, when you were told there were no “supervisors” to talk to,that is true, when I worked there we were like an abandoned ship,on our own,the so called supervisors, were other agents,my boss and others who actually just walked around with a whip in their hand,NEVER EVER answered a phone…..Soooo thats Delta/NW for you.
