Left My 13 Year Old to Fend for Herself
03 Aug 2009 at 07:17 pm
My daughter flew from ATL to Frankfurt Friday. After a horrible 2.5 hour wait to check luggage (she got boarding pass right away) she was told:
- you can’t check your bag
- you probably won’t make your flight
- your grandparents can’t go with you to the gate
She had 25 minutes to run to her flight (leaving her bag behind) and problems boarding.
Because Delta didn’t follow the proceedure for unaccompanied minors ($100 is supposed to get two gate passes for family members) her father wasn’t able to meet her at the gate in Frankfurt.
She was held in a small room in customs for almost an hour in Germany (55 minutes)
All Delta will say is “that doesn’t happen” and “if it did happen the proper steps weren’t followed.”
What about MAKING SURE IT DOESN’T HAPPEN TO SOMEONE ELSES KID?
What about getting my kid her luggage?
BTW customer service says getting the luggage delivered is “no problem” the bagage reps say “NO WAY”
Grrrrr……

Watch out if you’re letting your kids fly delta this summer…go with them because Delta doesn’t care!
Hours of international call time spent on hold to get NOWHERE!
My kid is home and safe but much less confident about flying.
I’ll never fly DELTA again -ever!
