Delta Awards is a Joke and a Rip Off

I was an NWA customer… a happy one. Then they merged and along with it went the remainder of our miles. I had to fly to DC for a class so I decided to use my Delta miles to book it. 32,000 miles for a $250 ticket. Something big came up and so I had to leave two days later and I call them up to get it changed. I looked up the flight I wanted to take and it was only $320 round trip. They tell me I have to pay a $100 change fee and even though it’s the same flight two days later I have to buy another 6k miles so I can get this flight as I only had 2k left. 6k miles is $180 after tax so I am now paying $280 plus 32,000 miles for a ticket that originally would have cost me $250 and if I’d just paid cash for the ticket then I would have only paid $170.
Great customer service Delta.
The worst part for me is that I only wanted to change my first flight and I looked it up and could buy just the one flight for $175. I tell them I will just buy that one flight and they say if I don’t take the first free flight they will cancel my flight back.
After this I will never fly this airline again.

NWA wasn’t that great and it was deteriorating. But after the merger with Delta, it was awful. I flew one of the worse transatlantic flights of my life on Delta. The service attendants were rude. The food was mediocre with wine from cartons and pathetic plastic ware. The so called entertainment was overhead videos shared by many; meaning you had no choice. Just awful all the way around. I’ll avoid Delta airlines like the plague.
