The rules for check-in are on the website... I can understand you're upset but... In the future I recommend that you try to check in without checked baggage and then bring your bag a carry on... Maybe it would fit... Or... Maybe you would be allowed a plane side check in... As for the fact that his seat was given away... If you don't check in at a certain time the stand by folks get the seats... Why didn't you try on line check in? you can do that 24hrs. prior to the flight so all you would have had to do was drop your bags off...
