I have been traveling to Asia regularly for over a decade. Never had an issue with an airline, in fact had many enjoyable trips and even got some super perks from United, American, JAL, Thai and Northwest in the past.

This time Delta had the best deal so I tried them for the Very first time. So, last week I had the great misfortune to meet the (maybe one of many) Delta agent from Hell. For some reason she hated me from the second I stepped up to her counter. After she printed my boarding passes and tagging my bag she suddenly declared I couldn’t go on my first flight and on to BKK. She said, completely without knowing what she was talking about that I didn’t have the proper visa. Thailand stamps US passports for 30 days on arrival, but she would not listen to reason, would not as I kindly asked, open my passport and look at my previous stamps, would not listen to anything I tried to say, and then she took great pleasure in cutting up my boarding passes in front of me. Then they made me wait 1 hour and 45 minutes to speak with a supervisor !

After 7 hrs in phone calls I have gotten a refund on my non refundable ticket and $200 in vouchers, obvious admittance of their wrong, but it all feels like a bag of peanuts after such a major disruption. I have never written or called an airline to complain before but after this experience I’m still calling 6 days later. If they won’t fix this then at least they will hear my story over and over as will so many friends, colleagues and customers of mine. Spread the word, help friends and family avoid the hassle of travel with Delta.

This is the very abbreviated version of the story but all in all I kept my composure through it all and never did anything to deserve the evil and ignorant treatment I received from Delta. The people I’ve spoken with on the phone have been decent, good listeners and sympathisers but still didn’t do much of anything to help me feel better about this.

Never Fly Delta !!!
