No miles for partner airlines?

I used to be a hardcore NWA skymiles fan; I went with it when they were bought by Delta, got all my new numbers and account info. I chose to fly a partner airline, on purpose, for a recent international trip. I typed in my Delta number (I was given the option when buying). In the past, with NWA, that was all I should have had to do. They have all the information already…
Instead, weeks go by – no credit. I emailed Delta and they say “Unfortunately, we are unable to access information on tickets issued through other airlines in our system”.
So I have to send in more information: paystubs, ticket receipts, etc. And for an electronic ticket! This is Barbaric. I feel like we’ve gone back a century. Who still uses Snail mail? Obviously this is a clever, frugal attempt to stiff loyal customers out of rightfully earned miles. Screw you, Delta.

This is the absolute truth and do not even get me going on service, especially trans-Atlantic. They are the worst. If THEY change your flight and you want to switch to another, YOU have to pay for the privilege.

I am wondering how it is possible legally, that airmiles accrued with NWA and rolled over to Delta are now worth approximately half of what they were worth when they were collected.
My miles were moved over from NWA to Delta, but they seem to have lost half of their value. With NWA trans-atlantic award flight was 50,000k miles, and available. With Delta it appears to be 90,000 + $300, if you can find a flight.
So I started a chat session with Delta to figure out what was going on. This is the transcript below. It speaks for itself;

ME: question about award miles
I transferred my miles from NWA. With NWA I was able to fly to the US from Europe for 50,000 miles. I am trying to book a flight now and am offered the flight, with connections, for 90,000 miles plus $300. I seem to be missing something. Are the miles a lot less valuable with delta?
thank you
